I am generally pretty flexible about where I run my courses. This is usually based on where the client lives or if they have any particular preference. I cover all the counties around Nottinghamshire (Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Staffordshire and Yorkshire). I will always discuss with my clients before hand to get the best location to achieve the best results.

Although the scheduling system on the website gives fixed times for my courses they are in fact extremely flexible. As photographers we know that great light is often dawn and dusk, and as this occurs at different times throughout the year then start and finishes reflect this. I also take into consideration the wishes of the client. As an example if a client has a long journey to get to the location we have decided on and the course is in June they might rather decide to catch the evening light rather than being up at 2am to get to the site for sunrise.

Some sites will have a visitors centre with cafe and toilet facilities and other will have very little. Again I discuss possible locations with each client individually before the day. Now is the time I really rely on my clients to let me know what site they would prefer. I also usually carry supplies of water and coffee in my van as well rudimentary toilet facilities for emergencies!

I keep in touch with you right up to the day. If the forecast looks properly awful, wet, cold, or unsafe, I’ll usually suggest rescheduling so you get better conditions. A little dramatic weather can be brilliant for photography, but if it’s going to stop you learning and enjoying the session, I’d rather move it. Simple as that.
