Macro Photography - Workshop

Service Description

This year I will be again running my popular Macro Photography Workshops. These are limited to six participants for each workshop taking place on two dates. The length of each workshop is approximately four hours and will take place at the excellent Idle Valley Nature Reserve near Retford Nottinghamshire. This location will provide us with the opportunity for flowering plants as well as an abundance of insects including butterflies. Idle Valley also has toilet facilities and a café on site or you can bring your own refreshments. I always carry emergency water in the van as at these times of year it can get hot. It would also be wise to bring a hat or similar to protect you from strong sunlight for the time we are out. There is also a three pound donation for car parking. To participate you will need a camera DSLR or Mirrorless with a macro lens or an alternative method of gaining macro images (reverse lens, Raynox or similar). If you are unsure please contact me in advance and I can advise you or may be able to help with equipment for the workshop. What we will cover. - Equipment - Shooting with what you have and getting the best out of it. - Basic Techniques - Histograms, Exposure, Shutter speed, Aperture, Focusing and Composition. - Subjects - Plants, Insects, Still life, Abstract. - Lighting - Natural Light, Flash, Colour Temperature, Light Quality, Colour Complimentary/Contrasting. - Advanced techniques - Focus Stacking, High-Speed Macro Photography, Painting With Light. After the Workshop. I will provide you with notes on what we have covered on the day as well as the opportunity to contact me after the event as I know from experience there is always a question you forgot to ask on the day.
