Marsden Photography Course

Due to demand I have decided to offer this course for those of you that may want to create eerie haunting images like the late great Simon Marsden. But for those of you that don’t know Simon Marsden was known for his work with infrared film and creating images that leave the viewer with a feeling of unease, a truly inspirational photographer. His work is displayed at the V & A, London, Getty Museum, Los Angeles as well as many others. For over ten years now I have been attempting to create my own version of this type of photography. This has led me to use the same film camera (Nikon F2) as well as identical film (Kodak HIE, not produced since 2007!) Along side this I also continue to perfect my own techniques using modern digital cameras. After much testing I now feel confident in my techniques to offer photographers the chance to shoot this type of photography using their own digital camera with nothing more than an infrared filter and tripod. For the day itself all you need is a digital DSLR or Mirrorless camera and a lens. All I need to know is the filter thread size on your lens and you will have the use of an infrared filter for the day. No tripod, don't worry I can also provide this! As with all my courses this is offered on a one to one basis at locations that offer us the best chance of producing images in the Marsden style such as Sheffield General Cemetery and Roche Abbey. This course is specifically offered from 1st May to 31st October as one of the requirements for infrared photography is as much light as possible which makes it a great distraction for landscape photographers when the light is often too harsh for general landscape shooting. Please note that on completion of this course I will provide you with a video link showing how I process my images in Affinity to enable you to follow along with the images you shot on the day.
